This smart lock concept keeps track of sliding doors and windows.

While people have been storing valuables in their homes for a long time, our homes themselves are now more valuable thanks to the many advanced devices that power them. Smart locks for smart homes are becoming more common in the market, although not everyone is confident in their reliable security. However, the threat doesn’t just come from the front door, and for that matter, the typical smart lock can’t do anything to windows or other types of doors. There is definitely a market here waiting to be conquered, and this smart lock module concept is designed for a specific type of door or window that opens up to give you access to the people and treasures in your humble home.
Typical smart door locks are only designed to work with the most common type of front door, which has a handle that turns and opens or closes. Their design doesn’t make much sense for sliding doors that are at the back or side of the house and are sometimes easier to break open. This type of door offers the opportunity not only to design various types of locks, but also to provide convenient locks that traditional smart door locks cannot provide.
The Plus Link Z concept is designed to work with the real Plus Link smart home security platform, which is actually a combination of a smart door lock, a security camera, and a sliding door opener. The first two features are comparable to almost any smart lock, allowing homeowners to remotely lock or unlock a door and keep an eye on who is outside. Over time, some sort of facial recognition could be added to this external camera, but the main purpose for which it was designed is surveillance.
What makes this IoT security module different is that it can also open and close sliding doors automatically. A typical smart door lock only locks and unlocks the door, allowing you to manually push or pull the door. Plus Link Z uses an electric actuator that drives the top frame of the door, causing it to slide left or right. Thanks to this design, there is no need to change or modify the door itself, it is enough to install a security module and cameras from the outside above it.
The Plus Link Z concept, while innovative, also looks a bit complicated and may require professional installation. It also raises concerns about whether the gears could damage the door frame due to friction. However, the idea itself is commendable as it attempts to solve an often overlooked home security problem where the front door can be secure while other doors and windows are vulnerable to simple break-ins.
